Hamilton deputies use road spikes to end chase

Hamilton County deputies on the lookout for a stolen vehicle chased it and arrested the driver Friday.

In a news release, the sheriff's office said day-shift deputies were told to watch for a stolen vehicle. At about 7:30 p.m., the release said, deputies spotted the vehicle on Lee Highway and tried to pull it over in the 9100 block.

Instead, the driver led officers on a short pursuit that ended in the 8900 block of Ooltewah-Georgetown Road after road spikes were deployed.

The stolen vehicle ran into a field and stopped and the officers arrested Jesse Mennis without incident, according to the release.

No further information was immediately available on Mennis, who was awaiting booking at the Hamilton County Jail late Friday night.
