Sequatchie County, Tenn., mother is behind bars after her 11-month-old son was treated for alcohol poisoning from an adult beverage put into the baby's bottle.

Heather M. Oakes, 27, of Lewis Chapel Mountain, was charged with aggravated child abuse and is being held without bond, Sequatchie County Sheriff's detective Jody Lockhart said on Thursday.

Oakes was charged after authorities were contacted by officials at Erlanger Sequatchie Valley in Dunlap on Monday about a baby being brought in by ambulance suffering from alcohol poisoning, Lockhart said.

The baby was transferred to Children's Hospital at Erlanger in Chattanooga in critical condition, he said.

Oakes is due in General Sessions Court in the morning for a bond hearing, officials said.

The baby has since been released to the custody of the Department of Childrens Services, according to Lockhart.
