Carson will be at the Barnes and Noble at Hamilton Place mall, according to a news release, where he will sign copies of his new book, "A More Perfect Union: What We the People Can Do to Reclaim Our Constitutional Liberties."

The book will be released Oct. 6 and is 256 pages. According to a release about the signing, this will be a "signature-only" signing, meaning no personal messages will be allowed because of time constraints.

Carson made headlines recently when a Monmouth University poll of likely Iowa Republican caucus-goers had him tied for first with Donald Trump for the GOP nomination. Both had 23 percent of the vote, 13 percentage points higher than businesswoman Carly Fiorina, who was in the third place.

Carson will be the fourth Republican presidential candidate to visit Chattanooga this year. Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum visited in June, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in August and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio's visit is scheduled for Thursday.

Carson's book signing is part of a fundraiser for the Urban League of Greater Chattanooga, a community-based movement devoted to empowering black Americans and other underserved individuals.

If customers mention the local Urban League during checkout, a percentage of their purchase will go to the organization.
