Searchers found a missing 3-year-old's body in the deep end of a cloudy backyard pool Sunday afternoon, the Whitfield County Sheriff's Office said.

In a news release, Capt. Rickey Swiney said Karina Annabelle Treat and her father, Russell Treat, were visiting a relative at 4870 South Dixie Highway on Sunday while the little girl's mother was at work.
After about 45 minutes, Russell Treat noticed the little girl was missing. The call came to the Whitfield 911 center at 12:59 p.m.

The sheriff's office, county and city fire departments, Georgia State Patrol and other agencies began a search, including a pond and a swimming pool on the property.

Swiney said the in-ground swimming pool was very cloudy and searchers could only see around 3 feet from the top of the water. They had to use nets to search the bottom of the pool. The child's body was found in about 6 feet of water.

An autopsy will be conducted. The coroner's office is assisting in the investigation.
