Nurses stabbed in attack at Knoxville hospital

KNOXVILLE - Two nurses are recuperating after being stabbed in an attack at Tennova Physicians Regional Medical Center on Monday, according to a hospital spokesman.

John Hagen, 50, and Julie Hartsell, 51, both were wounded by a patient who allegedly armed himself with a knife and a pair of scissors in his second-floor hospital room, according to Knoxville Police Department records.

Hartsell, who was stabbed in her upper chest with the scissors, has been treated and released, Tennova spokesman Jerry Askew said Wednesday.
