Authorities said a nephew killed his uncle in a shootout early Wednesday morning over a stolen, prized fighting rooster, which was found tied to a chair in a Moore Cemetery Road mobile home near Decatur in Meigs County.

Killed in a hail of gunfire was Timothy Dewayne Johnson, 52, whose body was found in the driveway of his nephew's home. Nephew Larry Eugene Johnson, 28, who suffered a gunshot wound to his chest, was discovered inside his trailer when authorities arrived.

Timothy Johnson had gone to Larry Johnson's mobile home about 2 a.m. and confronted Larry Johnson, accusing him of stealing his gamecock, according to a news release from 9th Judicial District Attorney General Russell Johnson.
