JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) - A Madison County sheriff's deputy has been arrested on a DUI charge.

Madison County Sheriff's Office public information officer Tom Mapes tells the Jackson Sun that the Tennessee Highway Patrol arrested 37-year-old Kristie Foster Saturday morning after she was pulled over.

According to an affidavit, Foster was stopped on Highway 45 after she was swerving between lanes and following another vehicle too closely.

The officer who pulled her over detected the smell of alcohol in the car. According to the affidavit, Foster exhibited indicators of impairment and was booked on a DUI charge.

Mapes says Foster's job status won't be determined until more information is known.

It's unclear if Foster has an attorney.
