Chattanooga police arrest woman in Christmas Eve shooting

A woman suspected in a shooting that occurred on Christmas Eve has been arrested, according to a Chattanooga Police Department news release.

Orneasha Nicole Swafford, 22, was arrested and charged Monday in the shooting of Daysha Joyner, 20, in the 1900 block of 12th Avenue on Dec. 24.

Police said they did not learn of the shooting until Joyner arrived at a local hospital in a personal vehicle with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg.

Officers said the shooting appeared to have escalated from an argument between the two women.

Swafford is being charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.
