Chattanooga police searched a large area near Suck Creek Road and River Canyon Road for a missing 23-year-old man on Wednesday.

Authorities combed the area along the Hamilton and Marion county borders for Bradley Powell, who was last seen on Dec. 7. and was reported missing on Dec. 9.

Powell's disappearance is suspicious because he is normally in regular contact with his family, police said. Investigators have not given a specific reason why the search was centered on the Suck Creek area, but said officers searched both water and land.

The investigators were searching for physical evidence, police said. The Tennessee Highway Patrol's helicopter and deputies from Marion County assisted in the search.

Powell was last seen when he left his home in Chattanooga on Dec. 7 wearing a white T-shirt, red pants, gray Vans and a dark colored jacket. He has a dream catcher tattoo on his upper right arm and two small scars above his left knee.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the police department at 698-2525.
