Three people have been arrested in a fatal shooting earlier this month at Springbrook Apartments in Cleveland, Tenn.

Jackie Ingram, 22; Nathan Bean, 18; and Derrick Brown, 18, have been charged with first-degree felony murder, the Cleveland Police Department said in a news release Wednesday. They are suspected of being accomplices of Adam Johnson, 18, who was killed Dec. 12 during a home invasion at an apartment on Blackburn Road, the release from spokeswoman Sgt. Evie West said.

Other charges are pending, West said, and the case remains under investigation as officials work to identify others who may have been connected to or involved in the crime.

Police arrived at the 2300 block of Blackburn Road at Springbrook Apartments just after midnight and found Johnson dead on the scene.

From witness statements, police said they determined that Johnson and two other men forced their way into an apartment with handguns.

At some point, an unidentified person in the apartment shot Johnson and injured Bean, who was transported to Tennova Healthcare in a private vehicle. A third suspect fled the scene, police said.

Under Tennessee law, a person can be held criminally responsible for an illegal act even if his or her co-defendant is killed in the process.
