Two individuals were taken into custody tonight at the Country Hearth Inns & Suites in connection to a fire on Brainerd Road that caused an estimated $300,000 in damages.

Fire Department Captain Steve Everett confirmed that the individuals were being questioned in relation to the Trophy Shop fire which shut down Brainerd Road this morning.

He said that information gathered from the pending investigation of that fire led authorities to the hotel where both "persons of interest" were found.

According to a news release today about the fire, "An employee of the shop told firefighters that early this morning, he checked the shop's security cameras from his home in Hixson. When he noticed the camera went offline, he drove to the shop to check and that's when he discovered the business was on fire."

When firefighters arrived on scene, a large portion of the building was already engulfed in flames, but no one was injured.
