Tyler Puryear has been charged with aggregated cruelty to a two-month-old kitten after allegedly throwing it against a nearby wall.

According to the affidavit, Puryear appeared uninvited to his ex-wife's home to talk. She allowed him inside, and he decided to sleep in their basement where there was a litter of kittens. His ex-wife reported that he got mad because they were being too loud and called to her daughter to take them away. When she didn't, he grabbed a kitten and threw it against the wall, fracturing it's skull and causing brain hemorrhage. The kitten landed bleeding, and Puryear fled.

The Tennessee Animal Abuser Registration Act went into effect with the new year, making convicted abusers' information publicly available. However, because the incident occurred in September, Puryear is not registered in the system. He is out of jail on a $3,000 bond.
