SEVIER COUNTY — A 17-year-old forced a pool cue stick in the rectum of a freshman Ooltewah basketball teammate while two 16-year-old teammates pinned the victim on a bed, according to juvenile court records finally released today in Sevier County.
The three are charged with aggravated rape in Sevier County, Tenn., in an event that police say took place at a Gatlinburg cabin on Dec. 22.
Records for the 17-year-old charged say the senior took a "pool cue stick and forced it into the rectum and prostate gland [of the victim.]"
The victim sustained injuries requiring hospitalization for several days at the U.T. Medical Center, records confirm.
"Two other juveniles assisted in holding the victim down on bed inside a bedroom at the cabin," the records state. The address of the cabin is listed as 508 Laurel Mountain Drive in Gatlinburg, Tenn.
The boy's petition listed him as living in Ooltewah, Tenn.
Court records for the two 16-year-olds charged with aggravated rape each state that the defendants "did assist in forcing and holding the victim down while another defendant took a pool cue stick and forced it into the rectum of the victim causing serious injuries to the victim that required surgery to repair his bladder, rectum, and prostate gland."
These two defendants are both listed as living in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Detective Rodney Burns signed all three petitions.
A judge in Sevier County released the court documents Friday at 10 a.m. Under Tennessee state law judge's have the discretion to release court orders pertaining to juveniles if the defendants accused of a severe charge like aggravated rape and were at least 14 years old when they committed the crime.
Court officials said they could not confirm if a bond hearing has taken place for any of the boys.
The court date for all three boys is tentatively set for Jan. 26 at 8:30 a.m. As of right now it will be closed to the public and media.
The attorneys for the boys are Joseph Fanduzz of Knoxville and Jeff Stern and Samantha McCammon of Sevier County. The judge is Dwight Stokes.
The alleged rape and assault of an Ooltewah High School freshman by his older teammates caused Hamilton County schools Superintendent to cancel the remainder of the team's basketball season Wednesday.
