A mother who lived across Daisy Street from Sunday night's shooting where a 7-year-old and three others were wounded said her 14-year-old son was playing basketball with neighborhood kids when two men got out of a car and bullets started flying.

The mother, who asked not to be named for fear of retaliation, said her 14-year-old son was standing near the 7-year-old boy but hopped a fence before the younger boy was shot in the back.

The 14-year-old said he turned around and saw the younger boy bleeding. He ran back to get the child but a woman scooped him up and took him inside. The 14-year-old said he heard at least 12 shots before the men got back into their car and zoomed away.

"He's scared to come outside today," the mother said Monday afternoon of her son. "He was white as a ghost last night and he's white as a ghost right now."

Police spokesman Kyle Miller said there was no new information to release about any potential suspects.

The shooting was at the corner of Daisy and Wheeler Streets. Three people were taken to the hospital Sunday night with gunshot wounds, including the 7-year-old, a 15-year-old boy shot in the foot, and 34-year-old Charles Patton Jr., who also was shot in the foot. Shaderrika Ruffin, 19, was grazed in her arm and treated on the scene.

In a separate Chattanooga shooting early this morning, 31-year-old Natasha Jones was treated at the hospital for a life-threatening gunshot wound.

Police were able to locate Jones' vehicle and found multiple bullet holes inside. But Jones was taken into surgery and they had no additional information on the shooting.
