UPDATE: Police have opened a homicide investigation into the death of a Westside woman today on her birthday.

Family and neighbors said Aisha Bearden, 23, was found in her apartment this afternoon on West Main Street Court.

Police said Bearden's body revealed trauma and she suffered multiple injuries. The Hamilton County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Chattanooga police are investigating after a woman was found dead in her home on Main Street Court this afternoon.

Police spokesman Kyle Miller told media the cause of death was not yet known and investigators are at work.
