Hundreds of marchers walked in Chattanooga tonight in support of an end to violence, part of a weekend of national demonstrations and protests over police shootings of black men and the sniper massacre of five police officers in Dallas.

Marchers walked peacefully between Coolidge Park and Olivet Baptist Church on East M.L. King Boulevard, where earlier in the day the congregation held a prayer vigil for peace and communication.

Some of the walkers carried signs - Stop the Violence, Black Lives Matter and Chatt Lives Matter.

Police officers stood by and some of the people outside in the dining and entertainment strip north of Fifth Street stopped to watch the procession pass by.

As they walked past the Hamilton County Jail on Market Street, two women saw inmates looking out the barred windows and yelled, "Hey, we're marching for you, too."
