Two firefighters were injured this morning in a fire that destroyed a vacant house in the Valleybrook Community.

The two firefighters suffered first and second degree burns. They were transported to Erlanger for treatment where one was released and the other was taken to Vanderbilt's burn center, according to the department.

The Chattanooga Fire Department received the alarm at 5:35 a.m. to respond to a fire at the Valleybrook Golf and Country Club off Hixson Pike. When firefighters arrived they couldn't find the fire, but noticed smoke in the Valleybrook subdivision.

By the time the firefighters found the house fire at the corner of Baltusrol and Masters Road, the damage had already been done.

The house had been vacant for months. It took firefighters 30 minutes to get the fire under control.
