Red Bank firefighters managed to extinguish a house fire in the 4500 block of West Ravenwood Drive early Saturday afternoon, despite having to battle through extremely hot temperatures.

Amy Maxwell, spokeswoman for Hamilton County Emergency Services, said a neighbor called to report a house fire at 12:50 p.m. and when firefighters arrived they estimated 50 percent of the house was on fire.

Red Bank fire officials then requested a mutual aid response for more manpower and Walden's Ridge Emergency Services, Dallas Bay VFD and Soddy Daisy Fire Department responded to the scene.

The owner was home but was able to escape without injury. The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation, but damages are listed at $160,000.
