The five people who stole a person's car at gunpoint Saturday on Central Avenue were all under the age of 18, according to Chattanooga police.

Police confirmed in a news release Sunday morning that the five suspects are all juveniles and announced their charges.

The names of the juveniles were not released.

One suspect was charged with aggravated robbery and evading arrest while four others were charged with evading arrest and criminal conspiracy.

Police also noted that the firearm recovered from the car was an air gun.

The thieves stole a gold Chevrolet Malibu in the 5600 block of Central Avenue at 7:26 p.m.

When an officer spotted the car traveling north on Market Street downtown, he tried to conduct a traffic stop at Aquarium Way.

But the driver drove across the Market Street bridge, missing the right turn at Frazier Avenue and crashing into a tree on the westbound sidewalk.

The thieves ran into the Walgreens on the corner, according to police, and were rounding up there and arrested by 7:45 p.m.

Police said no one was hurt in the incident.
