Update: The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Jerica Jackson.

A fatal shooting off Highway 58 early Sunday morning took place just blocks from where a bystander was wounded by gunfire in April.

Chattanooga police were called to the 4600 block of Trailwood Drive just after 3:30 a.m., according to a news release issued Sunday. Officers found a body in a white SUV, and authorities said the cause of death appeared to be a gunshot.

By late Sunday night, police had not released the identity of the victim or any details of the crime. They asked anyone with information to call 423-698-2525.

Trailwood Drive is a residential street of smaller brick houses and duplexes. Across Highway 58 are SunTrust Bank and McDonald's. Just a few blocks away, in front of the Captain D's, is where two men were arrested in April on attempted murder charges after shooting at a third man, missing him and wounding a bystander with a ricocheting bullet.

Police charged Rashad Davis, 19, and Christopher Green, 20, with attempted first-degree murder and other charges.
