Alabama officials find body along Highway 411

Cherokee County, Ala., authorities are investigating what happened to a man whose body was found Monday along U.S. Highway 411, near the former Weiss Lake Egg Company.

The man has been identified as 54-year-old Donald Keener of Centre, Ala., according to a statement from Sheriff Jeff Shaver. He was pronounced dead at the scene by county coroner Jeremy Deaton.

A passing motorist reported seeing the body on Monday, the sheriff said.

The body is being transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy. The cause of death is pending those results, Shaver said.

Meanwhile, Cherokee County Sheriff's Office detectives will continue to investigate.
