Body of woman found on Marion County river bank identified

The body of a woman found Wednesday by two fishermen in Marion County has been positively identified as a woman reported missing on March 14.

Marion County Sheriff Ronnie "Bo" Burnett said medical officials have positively identified the body as that of Ollie Frizzell, a 54- to 55-year-old woman who had been living on Old Dunlap Road, north of Whitwell, Tenn.

She had been reported missing by her son, Burnett said.

Frizzell's body may have been in the water for several days, the sheriff said.

Burnett said the original call came in at about 12:30 p.m. CST Wednesday and when he and investigators arrived, they found the body now identified as Frizzell lying on the rocky bank of the river near the 2100 block of River Canyon Road. The area is in a remote part of the Tennessee River Gorge east of Prentice Cooper State Forest.

Burnett said there has been no determination on the cause of death and authorities have not officially ruled out foul play although there's no evidence that indicates wrongdoing either.
