Man charged in two separate child rape cases; 3 others charged with sex crimes in 3 different cases

Four men have been charged in Franklin County, Tenn., with sexual assault in three unrelated investigations involving incidents dating back to 2008.

Twelfth Judicial District Assistant District Attorney Steve Blount said Wednesday that grand jury indictments in all the cases were issued not only for the highest-level offense, but for the lesser-included offenses that fall under them. In the event of a conviction on all offenses, lesser-included offenses would be merged.

In one case, two Tullahoma, Tenn., men - Daniel Paul Barbeau, 60, of Turkey Creek Drive, and Ryan Nathan Henley, 27, of Hurricane Road - are charged in an incident that happened overnight on Oct. 31, 2015, or Nov. 1, 2015, involving an adult female victim, Blount said.

Henley is charged with two counts of aggravated rape, two counts of aggravated sexual battery, three counts of rape, three counts of sexual battery, two counts of criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated rape, one count of criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated sexual battery, one count of criminal conspiracy to commit rape, one count of criminal conspiracy to commit sexual battery.

Barbeau is charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated rape, conspiracy to commit aggravated sexual battery, conspiracy to commit rape and conspiracy to commit sexual battery. He is also charged with facilitation to commit aggravated rape, facilitation to commit aggravated sexual battery, facilitation to commit rape and facilitation to commit sexual battery.

In another case, Estill Springs, Tenn., resident Johnny Wayne Crowe, 67, is charged with four counts each of rape of a child, four counts of aggravated sexual battery and four counts of sexual battery by an authority figure in incidents between May 15, 2015, and Jan. 11, 2016.

In another case involving a different victim, Crowe is charged with three counts of child rape, three counts of aggravated sexual battery and three counts of sexual battery by an authority figure in three different incidents that happened between Feb. 28, 2010, and Feb. 28, 2013, Blount said.

In a fourth case, 54-year-old Estill Springs resident Eddie Lee Hatfield was charged with three counts of child rape, three counts of aggravated sexual battery and three counts of sexual battery related to three incidents while the victim was under 13 years of age, Blount said.

Hatfield is also charged with rape in connection with an incident involving the same victim after that victim became older than 13. Those charges are seven counts of sexual battery, seven counts of aggravated statutory rape and seven counts of sexual battery by an authority figure and seven counts of rape. The incidents in the two cases collectively took place between May 31, 2008, and Nov. 1, 2012, Blount said.

All four men are scheduled to appear in Franklin County Circuit Court today, records show.
