MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) - A Murfreesboro woman is facing child neglect charges after her toddlers were found wandering a parking lot by themselves.

Media outlets report that residents found the 3-year-old girl and 1-year-old boy in the lot Sunday and called police.

Detective Tommy Roberts says both children were wearing only night shirts and diapers. Both had cuts and bruises.

The children's mother, 21-year-old Andrea Lewis, told Roberts that she began to feel sick Sunday and called an ambulance. EMS workers say Lewis was coherent when they picked her up and didn't mention the children.

Lewis told investigators she thought her boyfriend was watching the children.

The children were placed in the custody of the Department of Children's Services and Lewis was charged with two counts of aggravated child neglect.

It's unclear if Lewis has an attorney.
