Fire destroys home today in Hamilton County

An family are homeless after a house fire today in Hamilton County, according to an Emergency Services news release.

A 911 call was made about 3:20 p.m. reporting a house fire in the 1000 block of Canterbury Road. Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department responded and found the house to be 50 percent engulfed in flames. Firefighters worked quickly to contain the fire. No injuries were reported but Hamilton County Emergency Services was on the scene for any potential injuries to the firefighters.

The house is considered a total loss with damages estimated at $160,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Tri-Community VFD Fire Marshall's Office.

The American Red Cross will be assisting a family tonight after loosing their house to fire.
