Flipper Bend wildfire expands to 230 acres [videos]

Northbound traffice on U.S. Highway 27 passes the forest fire at Flipper Bend near the North Chickamauga Creek in Soddy-Daisy late Monday. Crews from Tennessee State Parks, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Forestry Division and U.S. Forestry Service personnel from the Bureau of Land Management were on scene as two Air National Guard BlackHawk helicopters sporadically dumped water on the expanding blaze.

The wildfire located in Flipper Bend has jumped the North End fire breaks.

Currently, 230 acres are burning at Flipper Bend. The Army National Guard is expected to fly over Flipper Bend today with water drops.

The Mowbray woods fire is undetermined contained. Currently, 40 Wildland firefighters from TN Forestry, TN Parks and Nevada Forestry are fighting the wildfire.
