Man arrested after shooting at Georgia mental facility

SMYRNA, Ga. - Police say a man accused of fighting staff members and shooting inside a mental health facility in suburban Atlanta has been arrested.

Local news media reports Cobb County Police say a man opened fire at the Ridgeview Mental Health Facility around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Police say the man was arrested 30 minutes after the shooting occurred.

No injuries were reported.

The name of the man or the motive of the shooting has not been released.

Ridgeview is a private, not-for-profit hospital treating people with addiction or mental health problems.

The Georgia State Patrol says Griffin Middle School and King Springs Elementary went on a brief lockdown.
