A house fire claimed the life of a person in Cleveland early Wednesday morning, according to a Cleveland Police Department news release.
The Cleveland TN Fire Department and the Cleveland Police Department responded to residential fire at the 1400 block of Blythe Ferry Road about 1 a.m.
Five people were inside the house at the time of the fire. Two adults and two children, with varying degrees of injuries, escaped the structure and were transported to area hospitals. One person was unable to escape and died on the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
First responders expect to be on the scene at Blythe Ferry around Faulk Drive for most of the day and people are asked to avoid the area if possible.
