Money found on a woman arrested in August on drug charges turns out to be counterfeit, DeKalb County, Ala., Sheriff Jimmy Harris says.

In a news release, Harris said the DeKalb County Drug and Major Crimes Unit went searched a home on Aug. 17 and arrested Carol Marie Gass, 49 of Fort Payne.

Gass was charged with possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia, and the officers found what Harris said was "possible drug money" on her.

On Tuesday, Harris said, investigators arrested Gass on two counts of possession of a forged instrument.

"The investigators did a great job on this investigation. We are glad to have this counterfeit money off the streets," Harris said.
