Four killed in crash on Interstate 24 near Manchester

Four people were killed in a fatal crash in Coffee County near Manchester, Tenn., on Saturday according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

The 1986 Toyota Celica with a Tennessee tag was speeding east on Interstate 24 when the driver lost control while trying to change lanes and hit a tree, according to THP. All four passengers were killed on impact, according to THP.

The accident happened near mile marker 107. THP has not released the identities of those involved in the crash.

A separate wreck on the same day took the life of Madison Ostertag, 19, according to online posts by friends and family. Ostertag was the daughter of Iva Michelle Russell, chairwoman of the Grundy County Republican Party.

A spokesperson confirmed THP worked a single vehicle crash with a single victim in the area that night but did not confirm the identity of the victim. The crash occurred on State Route 108 near State Route 56, according to the spokesperson.
