Chattanooga Police respond to a reported shooting on 7th Avenue in south Chattanooga.

Shelly Bradbury is at a press conference live-tweeting the details of Wednesday night's shooting. This is a developing story.

A woman was killed during a shooting early Wednesday evening in Chattanooga.

Police responded to a home on the 3200 block of 7th Avenue shortly after 8 p.m. and blocked off the road with cars and tape.

Elisa Myzal, a spokeswoman for the Chattanooga Police Department, said the female victim was transported to a local hospital via personal vehicle and died while at the hospital. The woman will be identified after her next of kin is notified, according to the department.

Officers could not confirm whether the home was the actual shooting scene or simply the location used for the call to 911.

A neighbor who asked that her name not be used said she saw a white car speeding south on 7th Avenue that blew by a stop sign and the front of the house before several shots rang out.

"All I know is I heard it," she said. "It was about four or five shots."

She said she has lived in East Lake for decades and laments how dangerous the neighborhood seems to have gotten.

"It didn't used to be like this. I raised my three kids here," she said.
