UPDATE: Victim identified in fatal St. Elmo shooting

A man was found shot to death inside a home in St. Elmo today, according to police. 

The victim has been identified as Howard Simmons, 47.

Simmons was found dead inside a home at 5003 Florida Ave around 8:30 a.m. today. Police have identified and detained a suspect for questioning, police spokeswoman Elisa Myzal said. 

She said there is no threat to the public and that police do not believe the shooting is gang related. 

She declined to release the suspect's identity.
