An 18-year-old man was arrested today in an Aug. 23 carjacking and shooting in which one victim was hit in the face by shotgun pellets.

Dominique Boyd is charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated assault, carjacking and possession of a firearm during a felony for his alleged role in the incident.

Police say Boyd shot Fredrick Phinizey, 23, in the face in the 7700 block of Holiday Hills Circle around 11:35 p.m. on Aug. 23, then stole 21-year-old Khalilyah Smith's Nissan Versa.

The stolen vehicle was later recovered and Phinizey's injury was not life-threatening, according to police.

Boyd is also charged with a separate carjacking that happened on Aug. 17.

A second suspect, 20-year-old Tybresha Sexton, was also arrested for the Aug. 17 carjacking. They are both charged with aggravated robbery and possession of a firearm during a felony in that case.
