One dead after tractor trailer overturns on I-24

According to THP spokesman Sgt. Alan Bailey, a black 2011 International tractor trailer hauling five cars on I-24 West left the roadway for unknown reasons at the 141.2 mile marker around 3:30 a.m.

The driver was not wearing his seat belt and did not survive, Baily said.

A passenger in the vehicle had minor injuries and was transported to Erlanger hospital in Chattanooga for treatment, he said.

The tractor trailer belonged to a Seymour, Ind., trucking company Bailey identified as 5J Transport. No other vehicles were involved.

The driver's name is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
