A seven-month-old infant girl nearly drowned late this morning in a bath tub in Hixson.

Hamilton County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) deputies responded to the 2400 block of Hunt Heights Drive before noon for report of a near drowning involving an infant.

The infant was bathing in a tub when her mother stepped out of the room, according to police. When the mother returned, the infant was found underwater and blue.

The mother was able to resuscitate the girl before emergency officials arrived on scene.

The child was alert and conscious before being transports to a local hospital for evaluation and medical treatment.

This is the second case of a near-drowning death in as many days. A two-year-old girl survived nearly drowning in a Bradley County pool on Saturday.
