A man was taken to jail after hitting an East Ridge police officer on the arm with a hammer, according to a news release.
Officers were called to the 6700 block of Ringgold Road on a report that someone was screaming at and threatening employees at a spa.
The man was gone when police arrived but they found him nearby, the release stated. When officers tried to talk to him, he yelled and hit one officer on the arm with a hammer, according to the release.
Taylor McKinnon, 37, was taken to a hospital and then to jail, while the officer was treated and released to finish his shift.
