Several babies born in Chattanooga during solar eclipse

The solar eclipse is in progress on Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, seen in Spring City, Tenn. Thousands traveled to the small town, which is in the immediate path of the eclipse, to view the solar event from the heart of the totality.

Several babies were born during Monday's solar eclipse, according to Erlanger Health System officials.

The hospital system saw sevens births total, with three between 2:27 and 2:37 p.m.

Also, Erlanger saw three patients who were involved in motor vehicle accidents from attempting to drive while viewing the eclipse, the hospital said in a statement Monday.

The report said there were no known emergency room patients experiencing eye injuries, heat-related or sun exposure illnesses.
