Suspect arrested a week after Oakland Avenue shooting

A man has been arrested a week after a shooting on the 4300 block of Oakland Avenue, according to a news release from Chattanooga police.

Jonathan Smith, 33, was arrested Wednesday on charges of attempted first degree murder and aggravated assault.

Smith allegedly shot his cousin, Terry Thomas, 20, on Wednesday, Aug. 16, after an argument and then fled the scene before police arrived.

Thomas was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
