A duplex fire this morning displaced two Red Bank families, according to a Hamilton County Emergency Services news release.

At 10:16 a.m., a neighbor reported a house fire at 4118 Fitehaven Drive.

The Red Bank Fire Department responded and arrived on the scene reporting heavy smoke pouring from the front eaves and attic area of Side A of the duplex. Firefighters conducted an interior attack and were able to contain the fire to Side A of the duplex. Signal Mountain Fire Department and Dallas Bay VFD responded to the scene for additional manpower.

Fire officials reported no one was home at either side of the duplex. The smoke detectors were activated when the fire broke out on Side A of the duplex.

No injuries were reported but Hamilton County Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services was on the scene for any potential injuries to firefighters.

Damages are undetermined at this time but fire officials reported that Side A of the duplex has extensive damage and Side B sustained smoke damage. One cat was saved without injury and a second cat has been found uninjured on Side B of the duplex.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Red Bank Fire Department.

Duplex owner and renter families have been contacted and will be getting emergency assistance from the American Red Cross.
