A former Georgia Department of Corrections probations officer has been arrested on charges involving sexual assault of people on probation.
Anyoel Cordovi, 29, was arrested Tuesday on two felony counts of sexual assault by persons with supervisory or disciplinary authority and one felony count of violation of oath of office, according to a news release.
The Georgia Department of Correctioncs requested that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation conduct an investigation after allegations of sexual contact were made by probationers Cordovi supervised.
The alleged acts are reported to have occurred in 2015 prior to the defendant's resignation in July of that year.
He was arrested without incident in Canton, Ga. before being transported to the Floyd County Jail. When the investigation is complete it will be turned over to the Floyd County District Attorney's Office for prosecution.
