Five Georgia men charged in Andrews, N.C., home invasion

Five Georgia men were charged today in Cherokee County, N.C., in connection with a home invasion Thursday night in the Andrews community, according to Cherokee County Sheriff Derrick Palmer.

Palmer said in a statement that 20-year-old Christian Pelicie-Mederos, 23-year-old Selburn Abraham Ridley, 19-year-old Monte Terrell Stewart, 19-year-old Chevez Jamar Herron, and 23-year-old Marquez Deshaun Hall, all who reported Atlanta, Ga., addresses, have been charged in the crime.

Around 9:45 p.m. Thursday, a Cherokee County deputy responded to a residence north of Andrews North Carolina to a report of shots fired.

As the deputy arrived, the suspect vehicle was found disabled in the middle of the road with five people inside, Palmer said.

Two of the vehicle's occupants fled on foot but were taken into custody a while later.

Items seized at the scene included firearms, illegal controlled substances and a large amount of U.S. currency, the sheriff said.

Pelicie-Medros, Ridley, Stewart, Herron and Hall were all booked into the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office on charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon, asault with a deadly weapon, first-degree burglary and resisting an officer.

The five men are being held at the Cherokee County Detention Center on a $100,000 secure bond. Herron has an additional $100,000 secure bond for charges from another incident in Clay County during 2016, officials said.

"We have not completed our investigation but have some good indication why these individuals were in Cherokee County," Palmer said in the statement. "We are continuing our investigation and are checking additional leads and information."
