A 14-year-old student of North Sand Mountain School was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday while walking down State Highway 71.
Jackson County Chief Deputy Rocky Harnen said the boy was approximately 300 yards south of the school when he was hit.
Harnen said there is no sidewalk at the location and students frequently walk to a store near the scene.
