Summerville, Ga., man killed in Alabama crash

A Summerville, Ga., man was killed Monday in a single-car crash on Alabama Highway 35 north of Gaylesville, Ala., according to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency officials.

Paul Lamar Middleton, 52, was killed when the 2001 Volkswagen he was driving left the road and struck a ditch around 5 p.m. CDT on Monday, agency spokesman Curtis Summerville said in a statement.

Middleton, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, Summerville said. The accident happened at the 10 mile-marker on Highway 35, about seven miles north of Gaylesville.
