MACON, Ga. - A man died after a sheriff's deputy used a stun gun on him, and a bystander's video is being reviewed, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said.
An autopsy was performed Monday on the body of 58-year-old Eurie Martin, GBI Agent Scott Whitley told WMAZ-TV. "The medical examiner is going to conduct further investigation before making a determination of cause and manner of death," he said.
Whitley said deputies and Martin fought before the stun gun was used. WMAZ posted part of the fuzzy video, but reported that it doesn't show a fight.
Whitley said he has he's seen the video, which the bystander provided to the station, but declined to comment on it.
Washington County Sheriff Thomas Smith said he hasn't seen the video, and GBI is handling the investigation
At the start, the video shows two uniformed officers with a third man. One officer moves his forearm toward the civilian, then apparently holsters something while the man jerks on the ground. The man gets up and walks.
A second squad car arrives and an officer gets out. A bit later, the man is running awkwardly.
It is not clear what happened in between, as the smartphone jerks about.
WMAZ said it decided not to show what was described as the death.
