Woodmore Elementary Schol has a new principal.

Dionne Upton will replace Brenda Adamson-Cothran as the principal for Woodmore Elementary, according to a Friday afternoon news release from the Hamilton County Board of Education.

Upton, who has 21 years of experience as a teacher, coach and assistant principal, has participated in a number of leadership programs prior to her appointment, according to the release.

"I look forward to working with the students, parents, staff and community to continue the great work that has taken place at Woodmore Elementary," Upton said.

Adamson-Cothran led the school through the tragic Woodmore Elementary bush crash. Prior to the crash, she had warned Hamilton County school officials that Johnthony Walker, the bus driver who has been charged for his role in a crash that killed six students, was driving too fast.
