A semi truck crashed into the vehicles of a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper and a Coffee County deputy, totaling both, early Saturday morning on I-24 east near mile marker 112.
The trooper and deputy survived with cuts and abrasions, but "will be very sore for several days," according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol twitter account. The two were treated at a hospital and have since been released, according to WSMV in Nashville.
The responders were working the scene of another crash when the tractor trailer struck the THP vehicle. The incident closed the interstate for several hours but has since reopened.
