Siskin announces new CEO
Derek Bullard from Charlotte, North Carolina, is the new president and chief executive officer for Siskin Children's Institute, effective Aug. 13.
Bullard has dedicated more than 20 years of his career to serving people with disabilities in roles that include CEO, foster parent and advocate. He holds a bachelor's degree in human services from Thomas Edison State University in New Jersey.

Researcher receives $2.6 Million
Kafait Malik, professor of pharmacology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, received a $2.6 million grant to study the underlying development of high blood pressure, or hypertension.
The research team is analyzing the molecular mechanism underlying sex differences in the development of hypertension and identifying new targets for its treatment with agents selective for males and females.
The grant will build on Malik's more than four decades of research.
Mobile lung CT offered Saturday
CHI Memorial's mobile lung CT coach will provide CT screenings at CVS on 1301 Dorchester Road, Suite 117, in Chattanooga from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
The test looks for signs of lung cancer in otherwise healthy people and is covered by private insurance companies, Medicare and Medicaid for certain high-risk individuals, such as people age 50 or older with a history of smoking.

Smoking cessation in Ringgold
CHI Memorial will offer a free smoking cessation program to help people stop smoking starting Tuesday, August 7, at CHI Memorial Parkway on 4700 Battlefield Parkway in Ringgold, Georgia.
The program teaches participants how to beat tobacco addiction, lifestyle changes that make quitting easier, stress management, how to avoid weight gain and how to stay smoke-free for good.
