The victim in a shooting Saturday in the 1000 block of South Willow Street has been identified as 18-year-old Leontay Burns-Hitchcock, according to a statement issued Sunday by the Chattanooga Police Department.

Burns-HItchcock, who was wounded in the left foot, told police he didn't see who sot him.

Damah Brott, a nearby resident, said she was inside her home when she heard what she thought was a series of firecracker explosions.

Brott then ran outside and discovered the noise was gunshots. She said she believes between 12 and 14 gunshots were fired.

Brott, who has lived in the area for about a year and a half, said Saturday was the first time she's heard a shooting in the neighborhood.

One person has been sent to an area hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening following a shooting this afternoon on South Willow Street, according to the Chattanooga Police Department.

Responders are currently on scene in the 1000 block of South Willow Street. Police did not say whether they are currently looking for a suspect or if they have someone in custody in connection with the shooting.
