Facebook video leads to arrest in alleged gang related assault in Chattanooga

A video posted to Facebook helped officers track down an assault suspect.

Chattanooga police officers responded to a local hospital Jan. 29 on reports of a woman who suffered "significant bodily harm" from an alleged assault, according to a release from the department.

The victim told officers she was assaulted that evening at a residence in the 200 block of Water St. Officers found a video on Facebook showing the victim being repeatedly kicked and stomped in the head and neck area.

The suspect was identified and arrested for aggravated assault Friday, and additional charges could be added, according to the release.

Police believe the assault was gang related. The suspect is a minor.
