Chattanooga police officer Jillian Hampton was recognized as Hamilton Place mall's officer of the month for her quick response in saving a child's life.
Last month, police were called after a small child started drowning in a pool at an undisclosed location.
Hampton swam to the bottom of the pool and brought the child to the surface.
The child was choking and vomited several times, but recovered quickly and did not require any further medical assistance.
"CPD is proud of Ofc. Hampton's life-saving actions and thanks Hamilton Place for honoring her as the Officer of the Month," the department posted to Facebook.
